You Need a Sign

LED Content

If you display the same message on your LED sign for a month, chances are that it will become stagnant to the intended audience and therefore has less impact. You should change it up often. That is what seperates an LED from static signage. Keep the audience interested in what you are saying.  Mix it up!  You have a very powerful tool that can be used for the greater good.

We encourage our customers to display public service messages when applicable. Messages such as Amber Alerts, severe weather and even local sports scores can ensure that the public relies on your display for up to date information and also the goods or services that you offer.

Use good judgement as well to ensure that your graphics are not annoying to viewers. In other words, obnoxoius flashing, extremely fast animations or excessively bright displays can actually make a viewer dislike your message and can fuel municipalities to enforce strict guidelines on LED content.

You should research your local sign code (or ask your sign professional) to find out what is allowable where you are located. Once you know what you can do, you should use good taste and even better judgement in your content creation.

CenterPoint Church

It is with confidence that I recommend Ace Signs for your LED or general sign needs. Although I have not used Ace Signs for every project I have done, I can say that I wish I had.

As we approached this project, I sought out the advice of different vendors, and found Ace signs to be the best. Not only were they priced well, but they were also the most knowledgeable.

What I believe is their most valuable asset is the after the sale service. We have had a couple of issues that they were more than willing to resolve, months after the completion of the project.

You can trust Ace Signs.

As far as the value of the LED, we have found it to be indispensable. It has greatly added to our visibility, as we are located pretty far off the road.  It has also been an excellent communicator for us as a church. Looking back, the only thing I would change is that I would have used Ace Signs for the entire project.

If you are asking “Will this sign help our church (or business)?” the answer is YES. If you are considering another company to build, and maintain your sign DON’T!

A Good Sign for Your Business

Good sign design begins with a survey of your location and building, or an analysis of the architectural design. Traffic volumes and patterns are noted. Visibility is considered.

The bottom line is that your sign company must be able to assure your signs’s visibility and readability under standard conditions.

This information is blended with your name and logo, the architectural design of your building and your marketing plans to develop a street presentation unique and effective for your business.

If you don’t have a logo or unique type style, your sign company’s professional designers can usually help develop one that you can use throughout your business and other advertising media to reinforce or “brand” your business.

The sign must be large enough so the customer can read, react, and stop safely. A sign package with low readability becomes little more than a street address.

Make sure your signs will be designed to their maximum potential to keep your site “branded” and capable of influencing a purchase, as well as complimenting site architecture.

Section 179 tax deduction for signs

Section 179 Tax Break (for US Companies Only)
Section 179 of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment purchased or financed during the tax year. That means that if you buy (or lease) a piece of qualifying equipment, like a sign or LED display, you can deduct the FULL PURCHASE PRICE from your gross income.

It’s an incentive created by the US Government to encourage businesses to buy equipment and invest in themselves.

Essentially, Section 179 works like this:
When your business buys certain pieces of equipment, it typically gets to write them off a little at a time through depreciation. In other words, if your company spends $50,000 on a vehicle, it gets to write off (say) $10,000 a year for five years (these numbers are only meant to give you an example.)

Now, while it’s true that this is better than no write off at all, most business owners would really prefer to write off the entire equipment purchase price for the year they buy it.

In fact, if a business could write off the entire amount, they might add more equipment this year instead of waiting. That’s the whole purpose behind Section 179.

All businesses that purchase or finance less than $800,000 in business equipment should qualify for the Section 179 Deduction. In addition, most tangible goods qualify for the Section 179 Deduction (see list of qualifying equipment). Also, to qualify for the Section 179 Deduction, the equipment purchased must be placed into service between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.

The Right Sign: Service Above and Beyond

We were in the market to purchase an LED Sign and initially found a source in Los Angeles we were happy with.

Suddenly, we stumbled upon your company… we encountered some technical issues that we simply couldn’t solve on our own.

Jason Offutt, owner of Ace Signs, stepped up to the plate… on his own time, after hours… completely solved the issue.

Now that’s service going above and beyond.  We are thoroughly impressed.

It has only solidified that our decision to have purchased our signage from your company was right on and we look forward to many more purchases.

Custom Blade Sign

One of my favorite parts of being in this industry is custom signs. They help make each day different.

This concept was a joint effort between Darla (the owner of Dizzy’s) and the talented graphic arts team at Ace Signs. Ideas were thrown around from all departments of our office and we really got some artistic freedom on this project which made it something that all of us were truly proud of.

A project like this is not usually a major profit center but it is extremely rewarding for everyone to see their ideas and suggestions come to fruition and the customer be just as thrilled with your work.

Good luck in your new location Dizzy’s!

The Sign Syndicate

LED manufacturers

An LED message center can be the single greatest advertising asset for your business. No other media can match the ROI you get from an LED. You should keep this in mind when buying one. It is a large upfront cost. You will realize this as you research them, but also research the dollars that they can bring in for a business.

This should be taken into consideration when choosing a manufacturer.
As you look on the internet you will see that most of the LED displays advertised have the same specifications and warranties, but it is the specifications that you don’t see that should impact your decision. An Ace LED specialist can help you to understand the difference in manufacturers and the specifications.

While you may find a display that may be 20% cheaper than another, there is a reason for this. Installation may be extremely difficult in which you will end up paying the difference to the sign company that installs it for you. The software that controls your sign may be Chinese based and “loosely” translated into English terms. These programs can be difficult to use and prevent you from displaying exactly the message you want. The resolution will be poor and will have a short life span in most cases by using cheap diodes without enough density.

It is a common tactic for a sales person to quote a size and a price with very few specifications to attempt to win the job by pitching a cheaply made product. We will show you various specifications in different price ranges to make sure that you are getting the absolute best product for your money.

Full-Service Sign Company

Just as there are many kinds of signs, there are many kinds of sign companies. There are also many services – and levels of service – offered by sign companies.

As a full service sign company, Ace Signs offers complete assistance with your business signs.  We will come to your location and develop a checklist of your needs.  If desired, we’ll perform traffic or readership surveys to assist in understanding and predicting the return you’ll realize on your sign investment.

We’ll analyze your building, we’ll know your city’s ordinances and codes, and we’ll obtain the necessary sign permits. We will also help you select the type of sign that will work best for your business.

Once all the preliminary work is done, Ace Signs will design, build and install your sign, and provide ongoing maintenance and service.

Effective Signage can boost business

When you think of advertising, you must remember that signage matters. It is part of the promotion of your business, and it makes a big difference.

We helped a fitness facility/spa increase business on its spa side. The business offered all kinds of physical fitness and beauty treatments, such as facials, manicures and massage. More than 200 people came in each day for physical training, but the spa was barely breaking even.

Though customers had to walk right by the spa to get to the fitness center, not a single one seemed to notice. The signs for the spa services were originally hung parallel with the walkway, and we encouraged the entrepreneur to hang them perpendicular to the walkway instead. This way, potential customers would not have to turn their heads to see the offerings.

Now, within a month of adjusting the signs, the spa is making a nice profit, and the owner is pleased with both the business income and the improved morale among spa employees.

In this case, just changing the angle of the signs should improve profits by more than $100,000 each year. Physically, this was an easy fix, but it was a difficult change to make because the owners did not see the problem. They never looked at how the signs appeared to customers.

An artist lamented to me that while his art sales were great, his art classes were not. His studio was in the middle of a round-about in a major city, so there was no shortage of traffic. Many cars passed his studio every day, but he had no signs advertising his art classes on his building. Once he put signs out, enrollment in his classes shot straight up.

Obviously, if your firm is not in a location that is visible to your customers, investing in signs makes no sense. However, if you have a great location, you must take advantage of this opportunity to promote your business, subject to the limits of local sign ordinances.
